Basic Fluid Dynamics Laboratory

Category

The fluid dynamics laboratory is designed to allow students to actively participate in experiments illustrating the fundamental concepts governing the behavior of hydraulic systems, acquiring essential skills such as:

»Applying physical laws to real-world contexts;

»Collecting and interpreting experimental data;

»Working in groups and communicating results clearly;

»Actively connecting theory and practice. The core of the laboratory consists of two hydraulic benches that can be connected to a wide range of accessories, allowing for multiple fluid mechanics experiments.

During the laboratory, students will actively participate in experiments illustrating fundamental concepts, including:

»Operation of fixed and variable speed centrifugal pumps;

»Operation of centrifugal pumps in series and parallel;

»Localized and distributed pressure drops;

»Bernoulli’s theorem;

»Flow regimes in piping;

»Center of pressure and hydrostatic thrust;

»Flow over weirs.

The laboratory is designed for high school students, particularly for scientific, technological, and vocational tracks, but it can also be adapted to other educational or training contexts.
