The Flow Over Weirs module is a teaching apparatus designed for studying flow in open channels. It allows users to analyse the relationship between head height and flow rate across weirs of different geometries. The system includes four interchangeable weirs that are installed at the end of the hydraulic bench’s open channel. This configuration enables numerous fluid mechanics exercises.

A dedicated distributor feeds the channel and reduces turbulence. This ensures a uniform, steady flow. The high-precision depth gauge allows the water level to be measured and the operating characteristics of the different weirs to be determined experimentally. Students can also verify flow rate laws and compare theoretical results with experimental ones.

Thanks to its modular structure, the flow over weirs module allows students to study the principles of fluid mechanics, hydraulics and open channel flow.
