Thin Film Evaporation Pilot Plant

SKU IT.ESS Category
The Thin Film Evaporation Pilot Plant is an advanced educational system designed for the study of industrial evaporation processes, heat transfer, and the concentration of heat-sensitive products in chemical engineering laboratories. The plant reproduces the operation of industrial thin-film evaporators, allowing for practical exercises and experimental analysis on high-viscosity or fouling-prone fluids.

The evaporator consists of a cylindrical tube with a steam-heated jacket. Additionally, the system integrates an internal three-blade rotor that uniformly distributes the liquid on the internal walls, forming an extremely thin film. This increases the heat transfer coefficient and reduces the residence time of the product in the process.

The solution to be concentrated is transferred into the evaporator via a metering pump connected to the storage tank. Subsequently, the evaporated solvent is condensed in a shell-and-tube condenser and collected in a dedicated separate tank. This allows students to clearly observe all stages of the evaporation and condensation process.

The plant is particularly suitable for studying the concentration of heat-sensitive, viscous, or easily degradable products. Furthermore, it finds educational application in the food, chemical, pharmaceutical, and biotechnological industries. The pilot plant thus allows for in-depth study of vacuum evaporation technologies, industrial concentration processes, and thin-film evaporator applications in modern process plants.
